The Stour
Divelish

The Divelish rises in the area around Ibberton and Woolland in Dorset, and joins the Stour to the north of Sturminster Newton. Kingfishers and otters might be seen around Rolls Bridge.
Ekwall suggests the name is a compound of pre-Saxon words for 'dark, black' (dubo-) and 'stream' (glais), possibly developing much later into Divelish through dialect and associations with the word 'devil'
The picture shows the ford and packhorse bridge on the Divelish at Fifehead Neville.
