The Stour

Crichel

The Crichel rises near Chettle in Dorset and - after passing the Veiny Cheese Pond - gives its name to the villages of Long Crichel and More Crichel before joining the Allen beyond Crichel Lake. A correspondent noted "The stream is called Winterbourne. I was born and raised on the Crichel estate and know it intimately; neither I nor any other locals have ever referred to it as the Crichel."
