The Stour

Cam

The Cam begins at Three Gates in West Dorset, and travels about five miles to Densham Farm where it joins the Caundle Brook. A tributary stream splits off near Holnest and travels through Hermitage, where there is a well called Lady Well, to Lyon's Hill Farm.

Ekwall suggests that the name Cam 'is probably an old stream-name' derived from an old pre-Saxon word meaning 'crooked'.
