The Stour

Ashfield Water

This is a short tributary of the Shreen, which emerges at Ashfield Bottom, in the downs above Mere, South Wiltshire. A footpath follows it between Mere and Burton, where a sheepwash and a disused water wheel can be seen (pictures above).
