One of the best mid-season apples. Raised by James Grieve in Edinburgh around 1890 and commercially cultivated by his employers - Dickson's Nursery. It grows best in Scotland where it is used as a cooker, but in England is sweet enough to be eaten as a dessert apple - juicy with a good flavour.
